llms.txt

A plain-text file at your site root that tells AI models what your site is and where the important content lives — the AI-era robots.txt + sitemap.

llms.txt is a proposed standard: a single Markdown file served at /llms.txt that gives large language models a clean, curated map of your site. Where robots.txt controls access and sitemap.xml lists URLs, llms.txt adds meaning — what the site is, and which pages actually matter.

What it contains

  • An H1 with your site or product name.
  • A short blockquote summary of what you do.
  • Curated sections of links to your best content — docs, guides, key pages.

A companion llms-full.txt inlines the full text of those pages, so a model can answer from your content without crawling at all.
